Baby Diaper Rash

Our kids bottoms are extremely sensitive, excessive wiping can cause irritation to your newborn's skin, leading to discomfort.

Don't panic, remain calm!  Start by soaking your child in a nice warm bath, then dry your baby's bottom by patting it with a clean towel.  Before applying the diaper, apply a diaper rash cream for added protection.  There are many Brands out there that work, but stick to what works well with your child.

We initially started using petroleum jelly, but realized it was just providing a barrier and not providing the extra protection needed for the rash to heal.

The first diaper rash cream we purchased was suggested by my sister, it was called Sudocream.  I purchased it from our local Shoppers Drugmart.  We still use it, but the wife decided she wanted to try something that was O'Natural.

Aveeno Baby Soothing Relief Diaper Rash Cream is a product we are currently using with our newborn.  A small amount is sufficient to cover your child's bottom.  The following Baby Diaper Rash Cream contains natural ingredients like soothing oat essence and natural willow herb to soothe your baby’s skin.

It's important to change your baby's dirty diaper.  Letting your child sit in a soiled diaper will help spread the rash and prevent the diaper rash from healing.  If you decide to stick with Vaseline, remember to use enough to cover your baby's bottom.

If you notice redness and or red bumps around your child's bottom, then know that your child is in discomfort and requires your immediate attention.  Take the necessary steps to help your newborn baby feel comfortable and do not delay it.

What baby rash cream are you using?  Any cream that caused further irritation to your child's skin?
